Abstract

The relationship between total wave energy incident on a structure and the response of the structure in various sea states was studied in a flume. A refinement to earlier work on the estimation of total wave energy, which can only be assessed indirectly, is proposed. Good agreement between the proposed method and a cross spectral least squares method was achieved. Advantages and disadvantages of the various approaches are discussed.
