Abstract
Therapeutic interventions have impact if they succeed in overcoming patients' tendencies to overlook, neglect or forget them. Factors that promote impact in psychotherapy are similar to those that enhance attention and recall in all areas of mental functioning. A series of impact factors are described and ways of implementing them in different forms of therapy, illustrated.
