Abstract

An experimental, double ejector, compression enhanced refrigeration cycle has been designed and constructed. The selection of design points and components is described in detail. Operational tests indicate that the system is capable of smooth adaptive operation when the demands and environment vary within the design limitation. The two ejectors were tested separately and their actual and design performance were close together. When proper controls were employed, no start-up, running or shut-down problems were encountered. The system was turned on or off with a simple turn of a switch like any conventional air conditioning system. A method of incorporating an heating mode in the same system is also described.
