abstract = "Samples of metalized DNA (M-DNA) are produced. The electrical characteristics are measured and the electronic structure is simulated. Electrical currents are mediated by hybrid electronic states that arise from the interaction between the metal ions and the bases. The emerging picture is that of axial charge transfer mediated by the metal ions.",
