Abstract

Emergency department crowding is a significant international problem. The problem is on the edge of the emergency department and the departments where the patients will be subsequently admitted, provided they are not discharged. In this paper we present an analysis of the factors affecting waiting time in the emergency department of an eminent hospital in Israel as well as a suggested solution utilizing decision trees. The paper is based on the fourth year graduate project of a students' team in the department of industrial engineering at Tel Aviv University.
