Abstract

Electron-molecule scattering is formulated in an L2 basis, using the Schwinger variational principle and including polarization via an ab initio optical potential. The necessary integrals are obtained in closed form. Electron-helium S-and P-wave phase shifts are calculated, and applications to molecules are mentioned.
