Abstract

Hypoxic cell radiosensitizers offer a promising new modality. Extensive trials with misonidazole are under way, while a search for more effective and less toxic agents has also been initiated. Whether hypoxic cell radiosensitizers will yield improvements in the results of radiation therapy of many malignancies will be determined in the years ahead.
