Abstract

A novel electrooptic integrated ADD-DROP tunable filter, for multiwavelength communication fiber-based networks was designed, realized and characterized. The device is a fast four port active tunable filter, which consists of an asymmetric multielectrode co-directional coupler based on a two step Ti:LiNbO3 technology. The filter has a FWHM from 6nm to 16nm with a conversion efficiency of unity in the entire tuning range (750-900nm). Feasible modification of the device can narrow significantly the main lobe width and suppress side bands.
