Eigenstates of Maxwell's equations in multiconstituent microstructures

The eigenstates of Maxwell's monochromatic equations in a multiconstituent composite medium are developed and used to expand a physical field that is created either by an externally given current density or by an incident external field. The local electric permittivity κ(r), as well as the local magnetic permeability μ(r), are assumed to have uniform values in each constituent, but to differ in the different constituents.
