N2 - The average behavior of unidirectional fiber-reinforced composites, whose constituents are anisotropic in the elastic region and isotropic viscoplastic in the inelastic region, is determined. In the special case of perfectly elastic phases, effective moduli of the composite are obtained. Extensive comparisons between the effective behavior of the composite, as predicted by the present theory and by other theoretical, numerical and experimental approaches, are given.
