Abstract
A micro-macro analysis for the modeling of electro- and magneto-rheological fluids which are embedded in multiphase composites is presented. The fluids are represented as elastic-viscoplastic materials in which the viscoplasticity is of the Bingham type with yield stresses that depend on the electric or magnetic field intensity. Results are given that exhibit the quasi-static behavior as well as the dynamic response of the composite material in various circumstances.
