Abstract

A study was carried out to test the hypothesis that cellular adhesion may be affected by changes in membrane bending stiffness at the focal adhesion (FA). The hypothesis was tested by structural analysis and parametric investigation of the platelet membrane. The results indicate that the increase in the membrane stiffness caused an increase in the detachment force.
