Abstract

Previous approach of expressing the required motional average in Van Vleck's second moment formula, by means of the vibration tensors of the atoms or the molecules involved, has been expanded to include intersegment contributions coming from pairs of nuclei belonging to different rigid molecular fragments. In addition to the thermal tensors appearing in the vibrational corrections to the intermolecular contribution, in the present case tensors of translational vibrations are involved too.
