Abstract

Integration of ionic permselective medium (e.g. nanochannels) within microfluidic channels has been shown to enable verity of on-chip applications, such as biomolecule preconcentration for enhanced biosensing sensitivity. Herein, we able to dynamically control the ion-permselective medium, which introduces a new functionality into microfluidic based lab-on-a-chip devices, e.g. multiplex detection where a preconcentrated plug of biomolecules can be dynamically located at different sensing regions. In addition, we show that the ability to simultaneously form a series of preconcentrated plugs increase parallelization of the system and trapping efficiency of target analytes.
