Abstract
The dynamic buckling of elastic-viscoplastic plates and cylindrical shells is investigated. The viscoplastic effects of the material are represented by a unified theory of plasticity. The method of solution relies on an incremental process in conjunction with the finite difference method with respect to the spatial co-ordinate and the Runge-Kutta method with respect to time. The effects of applied loading rate, material rate sensitivity and shear deformation on the dynamic response and buckling are studied.
