Abstract
The complex embryological development of the inferior vena cava is responsible for a variety of malformations of the mature form. Recognition of these variations is important clinically, in particular when surgical procedures upon the inferior vena cava are contemplated. In appropriate cases angiographic and venographic evaluation is urged.
