Direct Solver for Systems of Hypersingular Integral Equations in Elasto-Acoustics

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingConference contributionpeer-review

Abstract

The paper presents a versatile fast direct solver for elasto-acoustic scattering problems formulated as a system of hypersingular integral equations. The number of equations can be between one and four for the class of problems under consideration. Depending on the formulation, the equations can include the single- and double-layer potential operators and their first- and second-order normal derivatives. The system is discretized and solved using the Boundary Element Method (BEM). However, due to the presence of elastic resonances, iterative solvers might not converge, making a fast direct solver of this kind indispensable for large problems.
