Abstract
Homodinuclear ruthenium catalysts with rigid spacers were used in the discovery of a new olefin metathesis reaction: Dimer Ring Closing Metathesis (DRCM). The development of DRCM is commented and the synthesis of a new di-ruthenium complex is presented. The new complex was shown to be active in olefin metathesis, but it was not selective for DRCM. The future perspectives for the exciting DRC reaction are also discussed.
