Abstract
Fiber Bragg grating (FBG) stabilization of the 980nm laser is very promising for increasing dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) channel counts. Successful stabilization requires a careful matching of the chip and grating to avoid unfavorable effects. On the other hand, improper FBG design can suffer from output power fluctuations arising from oscillations of the laser into a single-mode type operation.
