Abstract

The observed scaling violations of the nucleon structure function F2 and {Mathematical expression} have been analysed in the framework of perturbative QCD to determine the shape and magnitude of the gluon distribution. The data are in good agreement with leading order QCD, and the simultaneous use of F2 and {Mathematical expression} structure functions permits, for the first time, a reliable determination of the gluon structure function.
