Density distribution differences of protons in 16,18O from ratios of π+ elastic scattering cross sections

Abstract

Differential π+ elastic scattering cross sections and ratios have been measured on 16,18O at 48.3 and 62.8 MeV. Optical potential analyses were used to extract proton density distribution differences between nuclei. The results compare well with precision electromagnetic measurements. The optical potential parameter dependence is discussed.
