Abstract

Crossover relates to the dyadic process where emotions and experiences of one individual generate similar emotions in the other partner. The first crossover studies focused on crossover of an employee to his/her spouse. The next step was looking at crossover in the workplace. This entry discusses crossover of emotions and experiences in the workplace, addressing both crossover from leaders to followers and from followers to leaders, and crossover of resources, highlighting the need for more attention on crossover of resources from leaders to followers. The importance of leaders’ and followers’ awareness of bi-directional crossover, and the need for organizational interventions on this issue, are discussed.
