Abstract

The authors regret reporting that the economic analysis of the total cost of the macroalgae biomass was not clear. The economic potential of all seaweeds, microalgae and plant biomass is calculated per kg of monosaccharides extracted by acid hydrolysis. The last line in the abstract should be corrected to “By comparing the amounts and types of monosaccharides derived from macroalgae, microalgae and terrestrial plants, it appears that Ulva sp. has the highest economic potential of all photosynthetic organisms, between $1733 kg−1 and $3140 kg−1 of extracted monosaccharides from Ulva biomass”. The authors would like to apologize for any inconvenience caused.
