Abstract

The induced overvoltages in power systems due to direct lightning strokes are of main importance for the determination of the protection systems. Using the resistivity pool, the ground is represented by water, having a different dielectric constant than the ground in reality. The different dielectric constants are studied and discussed and a correction method is presented. With this method more accurate results are obtained and the induced voltages in power systems can be determined in cases with real dielectric constant values of the ground.
