N2 - If a new substation is to be constructed and connected to an existing network, several possible solutions are studied. These solutions may include various connection schemes of the sub station land several sought locations. While the principle connection scheme is defined by a limited number of possibilities, the number of possible sites for the new substation is in some sences unlimited. The new method, presented by the authors in this paper, enables to limit the number of possible solutions and by using grapho-analytical methods to home on the optimum solution. The optimum site for a substation is the location which will result in minimum construction and operation costs. After presenting the basic equations and their grapho-analytical solution, a numerical example is given, which illustrates the use of the proposed method. The authors believe that the method presented in this paper is a better tool for project engineers dealing with construction of new substations.
