N2 - A computer simulation of the cardiovascular system including an extravascular compartment was designed to predict blood volume, pressures, and flows, as well as hematocrit and myocardial oxygen consumption and supply in response to infusion of fluid following massive blood loss. The simulation predicts that the reduction of hematocrit with the increased preload and afterload which are produced by the fluid infusion, may result in myocardial oxygen deficit.
