Abstract

The dynamic strain between two discrete reflectors in a quasi-DAS φ-OTDR system was successfully measured, although the spatial resolution of the system was insufficient to resolve the reflectors using standard reconstruction and the backscatter profile was randomly sub-sampled. This was achieved with two different Compressed Sensing (CS) techniques whose performances, in terms of SNR and sensitivity, were analyzed in this work. The two methods significantly outperformed conventional processing while using as low as 14% of the original sampled data.
