Abstract
MHD flows at small magnetic Reynolds number are considered. The limiting behavior of such flows as the Hartmann number (M) tends to infinity is studied under the following essential hypothesis: every point of the flow domain lies at a finite distance (in the direction of the applied magnetic field) from an electrically conducting body. Under the same conditions, the stability of flows with sufficiently large M is proved.
