The precursors and outcomes of compensation‐seeking in Israeli war psychiatric casualties were examined. Findings suggest that compensation was sought by veterans who had experienced the most severe traumas and had subsequently developed the most severe symptoms and functional limitations. Reported range and severity of symptoms and functional limitations did not diminish with compensation. 1994 American Orthopsychiatric Association
