Abstract

We study the spectrum of Nambu-Goldstone (NG) particles in supersymmetric models using superpotentials constructed from elementary chiral superfields. We point out the possibility that translation invariance of the superpotential can lead to massless NG modes. We show that symmetry-breaking in the presence of R-symmetry can lead to preservation of a modified R-symmetry, in analogy to the preservation of a modified R-symmetry in the presence of instantion breaking of chiral U(1) symmetry in models with supersymmetric confining gauge interactions.
