Abstract

Experimental results from a time-resolved Raman study of collisionless (pτexc < 0.05 ns Torr; pτobs < 2 ns Torr) infrared multiphoton excited SF6 are reported. Even at infrared fluences below 0.1 J/cm2 intramolecular energy redistribution is observed. Comparison with photoacoustic measurements shows that within experimental accuracy there is equipartitioning among the various vibrational modes.
