N2 - A wide variety of 1,4-dihydropyridines have been synthesized through one-pot condensation of aromatic aldehydes, β-ketoesters, cyclic 1,3-diones and ammonium acetate using cobalt triflate as a catalyst through Hantzsch reaction. Some of the salient features of the present protocol are shorter reaction time, mild reaction conditions, good yields, non-aqueous work-up, reusability of the catalyst and non-requirement of column chromatographic separation.
