Characteristics pattern recognition algorithm for health and usage monitoring

Abstract

The current study introduces strain based multipurpose structural characteristics pattern recognition algorithm, used as a health and usage monitoring tool. Each strain reading is represented as a superposition of known structural characteristics such as typical airframe maneuvers, normal modes etc. Statistical analysis is provided to establish alert level indications of the structural health condition. Other properties of the flight such as load rates and structural deformation at a given moment can be obtained based on this basic method as well.
