Abstract

From our experimental results on the velocity of second sound in dilute 3He-4He mixtures [1] information is obtained about the 3He quasiparticle spectrum and the interaction between the 3He quasiparticles. The method of calculation is presented, together with the results on the 3He effective mass and other relevant quantities. The ratio between the effective mass of a single 3He quasiparticle in pure 4He and the bare 3He atomic mass is found to be 2.20 ± 0.04.
