title = "Builders behaving badly: New information about the chief workman Paneb (i) at Deir el-Med{\^i}na",
abstract = "This article offers a new analysis of the period during the late 19th Dynasty when Paneb (i) was chief workman of the right-hand side of the crew, arguing that the political upheavals of these years are closely connected to Paneb{\textquoteright}s rise to power and fall from grace. Building on Benedict Davies{\textquoteright} prosopographical work on the Deir el-Med{\^i}na workmen1 and Mark Collier{\textquoteright}s dating of the administrative ostraca of this period,2 this article sheds new light on the appointments made during this period, and on other features of Paneb{\textquoteright}s administration.
