Abstract

The title compound (1) undergoes on photolysis decarbonylation to perbromoinden-l-one (2) and intramolecular [π2 + π2] cycloaddition to the dissymetric perbromobishomocubanedione 3. The results from direct irradiation, sensitization and quenching experiments were taken to indicate that two excited states are involved.
