Abstract
Perineal and anal blunt trauma are rare occurrences. Here we discuss the evaluation and management protocols based on case studies. Diverting colostomy, distal washout of the rectum, minimal debridment and anchoring of the perineal body are the hallmarks of successful management of these patients. After recovery from the acute phase of injury, the thorough evaluation of the anal sphincteric mechanism is most important for minimizing early and late complications.
