Abstract
The steady states of the oxidation of cerous ions by bromate in a stirred flow reactor were measured. Under certain experimental conditions, of flows and reactant concentrations, the system can be bistable and pass from one steady state to the other via a hysteresis cycle. The experimental results are compared to calculated data based on a previously used mechanism. Accuracy limits for some of the rate constants are given.
