Abstract

Fiberoptic sensors can be used for monitoring physical (P, T, flow) or chemical (pH, p0₂, glucose content) quantities. These sensors may be inserted into the body via catheters or endoscopes, and used as diagnostic tools. They are potentially very sensitive, reliable and cost effective.
