Abstract
The dissociation energy, D, of the styrene·Ar van der Waals complex, which was synthesized in supersonic beams of Ar, was determined by resonant two-photon ionization via the S1 spectrometry. The experimental result D = 396 ± 16 cm-1 for the ground 1A1 state is in good agreement with the value D = 366 cm-1 inferred for the benzene·Ar complex from force field calculations.
