Abstract
This paper describes the use of behavioral techniques with a 27-yr-old male diagnosed as having hysterical paralysis of both legs. The case demonstrates the use of withdrawal of reinforcement for hysterical behavior, the indirect application of noxious stimuli, and the use of a technique which enabled the patient to save face upon giving up his maladaptive behavior.
