Abstract

A beam homogenizer for infrared hollow waveguides using silver-halide fibre tip was presented. This device removes the effect of low-order multimode generated by bending of hollow guides. A series of experiments employing a carbon dioxide laser showed that the solid fiber functioned as homogenizer with a small insertion loss of 0.2 dB.
