Abstract

Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is a malignant cutaneous neoplasm capable of extensive tissue destruction. It is often observed on the head and neck, and the eyelids are a common location. BCC was initially described as a distinct entity by Krompecher [1] at the beginning of the twentieth century. Some authorities preferred the term “epithelioma” to carcinoma because of the tumor’s limited capacity to metastasize [1]. While the mortality from BCC is low, the morbidity may be considerable.
