Abstract
General anesthesia was administered with a Bain circuit during spontaneous ventilation, controlled ventilation, or intermittent mandatory ventilation. Blood pCO2 was easily controlled in all patients with this system. In addition, its advantages are that it has no valves, is very light, can be used for all ages, and is especially indicated in children and in operations on the head and neck. Venting of expiratory gases is easily achieved, preventing pollution of the atmosphere of the operating room.
