Abstract
In this paper by Jacob George, Boris Gilburd, and Yehuda Shoenfeld, the presence of multiple autoantibodies in many autoimmune conditions is discussed. The authors propose an autoantibody spreading concept to account for this, based on animal models in which immunization with a given antibody causes an antibody response towards associated molecules as well as to apparently nonrelated antigens.
