Abstract

In January–February 2017, a salvage excavation was conducted in the Apollonia National Park (Permit No. A-7911; map ref. 182037-170/677471-568) at the request of the Nature and Parks Authority after trial trenches were dug in July 2016 with the assistance of inspectors from the Israel Antiquities Authority to improve the sewage line and install a sewer pipe in the national park. The excavation, on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority, the Nature and Parks Authority and Tel Aviv University, was directed by O. Tal (Tel Aviv University), H. Yohanan (NPA) and M. Ajami (IAA), with the assistance of T. Harpak (registration), S. Pirsky (surveying), R.E. Jackson-Tal (treatment of finds), O. Tal and T. Harpak (photography), Y. Avivi, I. Elad, J. Stern (IAA), Y. Betababo, G. Haviv, Y. Farhi and T. Tsuk (NPA). High school students instructed by the Education Branch of the Israel Antiquities Authority participated in the excavation.
