Abstract

An abscess is an acute process in which pus is accumulated in a cavity in the tissue as a reaction to an infection or a foreign material (1). Anal fistula is a pathology that often coexists with anorectal abscess. The exact pathologic relationship is yet to be determined, but it is believed that anorectal abscess is an acute presentation of a fistula (2).
