Abstract
This paper describes the use of mathematical programming in town planning. The technique has been developed during the last 25 years, and has been applied to many specific decision making problems in military planning and company planning. It has been applied to town planning only recently. The first study was made in Israel, then in the U.K. and in Western Germany.
