Abstract
A queuing-analysis of the Telephone Information Service is carried out. the system is first considered as an M/E//2/s/N queue and system-parameters are derived. It is then compared with the simpler M/M/s/N queue and it is discovered that for low and medium offered loads the latter model may serve as a good approximation for the former. Numerical calculations and several graphs are added to illustrate the analytical results and their implications.
