Abstract

Positions of emission maxima for 2-(N-arylamino)-6-naphthalenesulphonates vary with solvent. Correlation with ET(30) reveals two different slopes, corresponding to emission from two different excited states, non-coplanar (S1,np) and charge transfer (S1,ct). Intersystem crossing (as logkISC) exhibits two slopes versus the (ST) energy gap.
